If you are a certified SSI/PADI Open Water diver or equivalent, you are eligible to participate in Reeflog. A level of familiarity and ease with dive equipment and dynamics will allow you to better enjoy spotting marine life, which is the essence of the survey dive.
We recommend that you contact your nearest Reeflog partner dive centre to lead your Reeflog survey dive.
Your Instructor/Divemaster will walk you through basic marine life ID skills and survey techniques in a briefing. You can then use our Reeflog data collection slates to record your sightings during your dive. Once you are back on land, log in to our website and upload the data you collect!
As of now, our focus is to conduct underwater surveys working with scuba divers only.

All the data collected via Reeflog is free, open source and updated regularly on our website. You can refer to it anytime you like! It can be used by dive operators to track species in their region, resource managers to understand the state of our ecosystems, and even students who want to learn more about marine biodiversity. This can also be used as a resource for educators who want to bring the ocean to their students. The options are endless! Our job is to simply to collate the data, and you can freely use it however you please
